Project aim
The general aim project is based on the preservation
of the Nucleus of the Marsican
brown bear present in the Sirente
Velino Park and it represents the 5-10%
of the entire Ursus arctos
marsicanus existing population. The project
is also finalized on the protection and preservation
of 1or 2 reproduction sites and of potential wintering
sites present on the territory.
The aforesaid aims will be realized by the consolidation
and stabilization of assured presences, improvement
of environmental conditions, of the corridor (linkage
zone) areas, continuous monitoring presences,
verification of wintering and reproduction sites
location and tutelage.
Foreseen aims:
1.Environmental improvement of frequented areas
and on areas connecting the Park and the external
zones.
2.Control of stray dogs, prevention systems assurance(electric
enclosures), and management of territorial superimposition
between cattle and bears in altitude pastures.
3.Environmental monitoring of the bear and of
the more significant areas for its preservation.
4.Territorial supervision and access limitation
into areas sensitive to bears.
5.Information campaign, sensitization and divulgation
of continuous results on territory.
6.Specific control campaign for poisons elimination
and stray animals control.
Expected results:
- Strengthening of forest
covering of attended linkage zones through
the plantation of native species.
- Trophic resources
increment through beekeeping diffusion.
- Introduction of sustainable
forest management.
- Starting plans management
of pasture areas in altitude and improvement
of environmental conditions for zootechny with
the purpose of favouring theseparation
between bears and cattle into the pastures.
- Control and reduction
of wandering dogs phenomenon.
- Increment of the knowledge
of the species.
- Improvement and control
of tourists flow on areas interesting bears.
- Communication and
sensitization actions and campaigns increasing
the knowledge of bear specie preservation and
the consciousness of tutelage necessity.
