( Rocca di Mezzo, 06 April 2011 )The project LIFE09 NAT/IT/000183 COORNATA "Development of coordinated protection measures for Apennine Chamois (Rupicapra Pyrenaica ornata)" started in the Park. The project is co-financed by the European Community and its main goal is the preservation of the Apennine Chamois through the implementation of a series of measures in the current and potential distribution area of this species in the Apennines.
The leading partner of the project is Majella National Park and the associated partners are, besides our Park, Abruzzo Lazio e Molise National Park, Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park, Monti Sibillini National Park, and Legambiente.
The measures more directly involving the Regional Park regard the reintroduction of the Apennine Chamois in the protected area, according to what established by the National Action Plan for the preservation of this species.
The reintroduction measure in Sirente Velino is scheduled to start next year. Meanwhile, a series of preliminary measures will be implemented.
