The Park of Sirente Velino holds a wealth of millenary religious and popular traditions. The strong religiosity of his community expresses itself in festivals and rituals of ancient memory, some of which are linked to agricultural production cycle, when the feast was a moment of deserved rest from the fatigue of the work. The celebrations of popular religiosity are very intense and felt in every municipality of the Park. Here are some of them.
- The work in the fields
The populations of the park have their foundation in agriculture, in the ancient bond between the man and the land, which has always accompanied the birth and growth of the community. The conditions and the lifestyles and work of our ancestors are gone over again and guarded with great interest today: this assumption essential because it can retain memory even in youngers. Hence the importance of celebrations and initiatives that reflect the peasant civilization: his charm, but also its difficulties and its labours. Experiences such as the seed, the picking, and "sfioratura" of the saffron, the vintage, the gathering of wild asparagus, which you can relive in the charming village of Goriano Valli (hamlet of Tione degli Abruzzi) at the Farm Vigna of More, where you can also book for spending an entire weekend with board and lodging free and live as actors these events. The picking of saffron is repeated every morning at dawn, before the sunlight opens the flowers for the entire period of blossoming between the second half of October and the first of November.
- Collection of truffles and saffron
During the collection of truffles it's possible to participate in the search and collection of this precious tuber, which can be tasted at all restaurants. Accompanied by experts quarrymen and their dogs, the excursion in the woods, in search of truffles, combines the excitement with the entertainment.
